WGO in Celebrating World Digestive Health Day 2019!

Since 2005, the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) and The WGO Foundation (WGOF) have convened World Digestive Health Day (WDHD), a public health, advocacy, and awareness campaign. WDHD, celebrated annually on 29th May and perpetuated throughout the year, focuses on a particular digestive or liver disorder and aims to put into perspective several aspects related to the focus including prevention, prevalence, diagnosis, management and treatment. The success of WDHD derives from the global participation of WGO Member Societies, WGO Training Centers, WGO Regional Affiliate Associations, and other WGO partners worldwide.

CAMPAIGN INFORMATION

The WDHD 2019 Campaign theme is 'Early Diagnosis and Treatment of GI Cancer.' Dr. Kentaro Sugano (Japan) and Dr. Joseph Sung (Hong Kong) are the Co-Chairs of WDHD 2019. By participating in the campaign, you are helping to:

• Advocate for a multidisciplinary and personalized treatment of digestive cancers to achieve better clinical outcomes
• Inform gastroenterologists, hepatologists, their patients, and the lay public with an understanding of the latest basic and clinical research on the early detection, screening, and treatment of digestive cancer
• Educate by translating research into clinical practice to inform physicians, pharmacists, allied health professionals, healthcare payers, and the public of the risk factors, causes, and treatment of digestive cancers
